About Us

G’Day and welcome to Tropical Boating Adventures. Tropical Boating Adventures is owned and operated by Bat, aka Andrew Tod, and is based at beautiful Punsand Bay, at the very top of remote Cape York Peninsula.

I grew up on Queensland’s sunshine coast, where my family owned a hire boat business at the Spit, Mooloolaba. This gave me the opportunity to spend many hours, in, on and under the water.

My first knowledge of Cape York was from watching TV as a kid. “The Leyland Brother’s”, Mike and Mal, made their way to ‘the tip’ via the Old Telegraph Line, in a convoy of short wheel base Landrovers. Over three weekends their journey unfolded, and I was spellbound. That was around 1976, and 23 years later I came here to see it for myself. I was hooked, literally, returning annually, before moving here permanently in early 2002.

In 2004, I put my boat in survey, and started Tropical Boating Adventures. Living 7km on the western side of ‘the tip’, puts the grounds I fish at my front door. This location means I can fish both the Eastern and Western sides of the Cape, without having to travel more than half an hour to productive grounds.

I have the relevant licences to fish the estuaries and offshore waters of the Torres Strait, and also permits to fish the east coast waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Today my passions still lie with the water. Over the years many of my clients have become good mates. To me, there is nothing better than a couple of quiet beers and a yarn, after a day of fishing and diving.  By keeping groups small, I am able to provide personal one on one service, and get to know clients individually.

My aim is to provide you with a unique fishing experience you will never forget, and will look forward to doing again and again.

Fishing packages can be tailored to your personal preferences. Advice is free, so contact me so I can help you plan your own Tropical Boating Adventure, on beautiful Cape York Peninsula.
