Fishing Cape York is an anglers dream.
Whether it be the pristine blue waters of the Torres Strait, the maze of mangrove lined estuaries that comprise The Escape, and Jacky Jacky river systems, or the crystal clear waters of the Jardine River, Cape York Peninsula has a fish habitat, that caters to all styles of fishing.

Tropical Boating Adventures is located at beautiful Punsand Bay, 7km to the west of “the tip” of Australia, and 28km north of Bamaga.

Your guide Bat (Andrew Tod), has an extensive knowledge of the local waters, having been a permanent resident since 2002, and fishing the area since 1998.

The Blue water and estuaries offer a broad range of fishing experiences and fish species.
  • Sport Fishing offshore, anglers can expect to tangle with Mackerel
(Spanish, Shark, Grey, Spotted), Trevally (GT, Silver, Brassy, Bludger,
Golden, Diamond…), Northern Bluefin Tuna, Mac Tuna, Cobia, Barracuda, and Queenfish.
  • The reef fishing offers; Fingermark, Coral Trout, Nannygai, Black Jew, Red Emperor and Tricky Snapper to name a few.
  • Inshore and Estuary opportunities include; Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Estuary Cod, Blue and Threadfin Salmon, ancient Saratoga, and Tarpon.

In short, Cape York offers something for everyone.

Moon phases have an important effect on fish and tidal movements. The variance of current and tide, relates directly to fish feeding habits. When scheduling your trip, these things must be considered. We aim to put you onto the fish you want to catch.

Enquires are welcome, and advice is free, so drop us a line, and start planning your own Tropical Boating Adventure, on remote Cape York.
